ISOLATION OF NOVEL NATURAL MOLECULE FROM METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF SEEDS OF IPOMOEA HEDERACEA
Main Article Content
Abstract
Ipomoea hederacea belongs to the family Convolvulacea and the genus Ipomoea is the largest genus of the Convolvulacea
family. The title plant possesses profound medicinal efficacy and show significant analgesics and antiseptic activities. The
present study represents the phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of seeds of Ipomoea hederacea. The
extract showed the presence of nonadecyl heneicosanoate (new compound), lupeol acetate, ecdysone-2,3,22,25-
tetracetate, ecdysone-2,3,22-triacetate andquercetin. The characterisation of the compounds was done with the help of
various structural elucidation techniques viz. UV, IR, 1H NMR ,
13C NMR and Mass spectroscopy.
