INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Journal of Advanced Scientific Research (JASR) is an online Journal. This Journal publishes original research work that contributes significantly to further the scientific knowledge in subject areas Pharmaceutical Research, Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Medicine, Agro chemistry and applied Biosciences. The Journal publishes original research work either as a Full Research Paper or as a Short Communication. Review Articles on a current topic in the said fields are also considered for publication by the Journal.

Manuscript should be divided into Authors’ information page (should be supplied as separate file), Abstract, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion or Results and Discussion, References, Illustrations (Tables and Figures including chemistry schemes along with titles and legends must be provided at appropriate places in the running text).

Prepare the manuscript in Times New Roman font using a font size of 12. The double spacing should be used between running text lines and should have 2.5 cm margin on all sides.

There shall not be any decorative borders anywhere in the text including the title page. Formatting should be made as follows.

  • AUTHORS’ INFORMATION PAGE (Must be submitted separately)

This page should contain the following details

  • Complete manuscript title
  • Title of the article should be short, continuous, and yet sufficiently descriptive and informative.
  • All the authors should be mentioned in order and the corresponding author should be indicated by asterisk mark (*).
  • The name, address, telephone and email address of the corresponding author
  • All authors' full names with, Department, Institution, University, Affiliations, City and Country name and e-mail addresses.
  • Clearly indicate the provided name(s) and surname(s) of each author and check that all names are accurately spelled.
  • Affiliations of all the authors should be provided below the list of authors with appropriate citations in numbers (If two authors are from same organization, same number should be used for both).
  • Acknowledgements: All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship along with a description of their specific contributions
  • Conflicts/funding: the statement of conflict of interest and funding should be declared under this heading.

Information pertaining to the authors to be published on the title page should be uploaded separately in the system.

Detail of authors or organization should not be mentioned anywhere else in the manuscript file.

Rest of the manuscript must have the following:

  • TITLE OF THE MANUSCRIPT: Give complete title of the manuscript as header on every page of the article file (Do not include authors’ information or any other information which disclose identity of author/ organization)
  • ABSTRACT: Should start on a new page after the title page and should present the reason of the study, the main findings, and principal conclusions, not more than 250 words. All the three categories, Review Articles, Research papers and Short Communications should have an Abstract. (Structured or graphical abstract is not required). Avoid using general statements and references in the abstract.

 

  • KEYWORDS: 3-6 keywords are to be provided by the authors.
  • INTRODUCTION: Should start on a new page and should clearly indicate the aim of the study
  • MATERIAL AND METHODS: The section should include concise details on the methodology adopted, sufficient to repeat the experiment. All the referred methodologies, Softwares, images, graphs etc. must be cited properly. The statistical method and the level of significance chosen shall be clearly stated.

Authors publishing results from in-vivo experiments involving animals or humans should state whether due permission for conduction of these experiments was obtained, from the relevant ethics committees, in the Material and Methods section. In addition, authors wishing to publish research work involving human studies should also send a notary verified letter of approval from the Ethics Committee or the Institutional Review Board.

  • RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Can be clubbed or given as separate sections. Should clearly mention the results obtained after systemic procedure and the compilation of data. It may contain tables and figures and the number of table and figures should be clearly mentioned in appropriate place in the text. A proper discussion of significance of the results obtained must be given. In the discussion section similar studies may be given to correlate with current study. Citation of the previous studied must be properly given.
  • CONCLUSION: Must contain important findings and their correlation with the study. The conclusion must also contain significance of the findings for future studies/future scope/applications of the study.
  • REFERENCES: References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text (not in alphabetic order). Identify references in text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in parentheses.

  3. For more than two references [1-4].
  4. For mixed references [1-3, 6] or [3, 9-12]

References cited only in tables or figure legends should be numbered in accordance with the sequence established by the first identification in the text of the particular table or figure. Avoid using abstracts as references. Information from manuscripts submitted but not accepted should be cited in the text as “unpublished observations” with written permission from the source. Avoid citing a “personal communication” unless it provides essential information not available from a public source, in which case the name of the person and date of communication should be cited in parentheses in the text. For scientific articles, contributors should obtain written permission and confirmation of accuracy from the source of a personal communication. The commonly cited types of references are shown here.

Illustrations:

Tables - All the tables and figures should be in the text at suitable place. Tables should show lines separating columns and rows except. Tables should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals (Do not use Table 1.1, Table 3.1 etc. instead write Table 1) and bear a brief title in capital letters normal face with suitable numbering. Units of measurement should be abbreviated and placed below the column headings. Column headings or captions shall be in bold face. It is essential that all tables have legends, which explain the contents of the table. Tables should not be very large that they run more than one A4 sized page. Tables should not be prepared in the landscape format, i.e. tables that are prepared widthwise on the paper.

Figures - All the tables and figures should be in the text at suitable place. Figures should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and bear a brief title in lower case bold face letters below the figure. All the Figs must be provided as an image (Not as editable graph). The quality of the image must be such that can be resized without causing blurredness.

Keys to symbols, abbreviations, arrows, numbers or letters used in the illustrations should not be written on the illustration itself but should be clearly explained in the legend. Avoid inserting a box with key to symbols, in the figure or below the figure. In case of photomicrographs, magnification should be mentioned either directly on them or in the legend. Symbols, arrows or letters used in photomicrographs should contrast with the background.

Tables and figures must be cited in the text in numerical order. Table 2 cannot be first cited before Table 1.

Symbols and abbreviations- Abbreviations should be those well known in scientific literature. In vitro, in vivo, in situ, ex vivo, ad libitum, et al. and so on are two words each and should be written in italics. None of the above is a hyphenated word. Names of plants, animals and bacteria should be in italics. Words such as carrageenan-induced inflammation, paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity, isoproterenol-induced myocardial necrosis, dose-dependent manner are all hyphenated.

SHORT COMMUNICATION- The journal publishes exciting findings, preliminary data or studies that did not yield enough information to make a full paper as short communications. These have the same format requirements as full papers but are only up to 5 pages in length. Short Communications should not have subtitles such as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion - all these have to be merged into the running text. Short Communications preferably should have only 3-4 illustrations.

REVIEW ARTICLES- Should not be less than 6 pages, contains up-to-date information, comprehensively cover relevant and recent literature and preferably be written by scientists who have in-depth knowledge on the topic. All format requirements are same as those applicable to full papers. Review articles need not be divided into sections such as Material and Methods and Results and Discussion, but should definitely have an Abstract and Introduction, if necessary. 

Manuscripts prepared according to the instructions provided, will be accepted only and that fail to conform to the requirements of the Journal, as specified, will be rejected. Editor has the right to publish/not publish the accepted manuscript until it is withdrawn by the author.

Publication Fee*

JASR does not charge for submission or for processing of an article. A separate letter will be sent to all the authors when their manuscript meets all requirements for publication.

Journal does not have subscription base/any sponsorship and is available for free search. Thus for existence/financial independencies of the journal, authors have to pay as nominal charges.  (Cost towards Plagiarism checking, DOI charges, maintenance of paper in secured data storage system, databases for future archiving of the material; to meet various overhead expenses like paper setting costs, employees charges, communication cost, maintenance cost, time cost etc.).

2500 INR for authors from India and USD 50 for other countries (upto maximum six authors). For authors more than six, INR 500/USD 10 per additional author shall be applicable.

Manuscript Submission

Submission of a manuscript to Journal of Advanced Scientific Research (JASR) for publication implies that the same work has not been either published or under consideration for publication in another Journal. Authors, in their cover note to the Editor, have to clearly mention whether the manuscript shall be considered as a Research Paper, Short Communication or Review Article and also confirm that the manuscript has not been submitted to any other Journal for publication.
