FFECT OF IMPURITIES ON PHOTO- AND TRIBO-LUMINESCENCE PROPERTIES OF Mn(Ph3PO)2 Br2 COMPLEX
Main Article Content
Abstract
This current study describes the simple synthesis and characterization of [Mn(Ph 3PO)2Br2 ] complex and find the effect of impurities (HBr and HgCl2 ) on their optical, structural, photo and triboluminescence properties. Optical properties (absorption and emission) of the complex were recorded using UV-vis and fluorescence spectrophotometer. The functional group and structure of the complex were confirmed through FT-IR and XRD technique. It is observed that the absorption of the synthesized complex exist around 330 nm while when impurities doped into complex, the absorptions were blue-shifted to 350 nm. It is also found that the emission intensity of the synthesized complex is strongly influenced by doping. The photoluminescence emission efficiency of the HgCl2 doped complexes emit much lower than its corresponding undoped and HBr doped complex, which is may be due to the presence of chlorine ions providing more non-radiative decay pathways. Triboluminescence properties of the complex were conducteted by the specially designed drop tower method. This work will be useful in developing organometalic phosphors for various applications like smart sensors.
