SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF AZETIDINONE CLUBBED QUINOLINE DERIVATIVES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Novel series of quinoline clubbed oxadiazolyl-pyridinyl-azetidin-2-one derivatives have been synthesized via the
formation of Schiff base. The desired motif had been generated through annulation of Schiff base by condensation with
chloroacetyl chloride. The synthesized molecules were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectral analysis and
CHN analysis. The entire series of the synthesized compounds was evaluated for their biological activity against two
Gram-positive bacteria, two Gram-negative bacteria and three fungal strains. Compound 8b and 8h exhibited good
activity against bacterial strain whereas compound 8a and 8h shown very good activity against fungal strain.
