SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND DNA INTERACTION OF LEAD (II) COMPLEX OF SCHIFF BASE DERIVED FROM 2-(METHYLTHIO)ANILINE
Main Article Content
Abstract
A new Pb(II) complex, [Pb(PMTPM)Cl2], where L = 2-pyridyl-N-(2'methylthiophenyl)methyleneimine,(pmtpm) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, UV, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy. The interaction of this complex with calf-thymus DNA (CT-DNA) has been investigated by electronic absorption, fluorescence, and viscosity measurements. The experimental results suggest that the complex binds to DNA in an intercalation mode.
